NORWEGIAN SIGN LANGUAGE

Sign language is a visual language with a proud history. Instruction in the structure of Norwegian sign language, grammar, conversation and discussion techniques.

THEATER IN SIGN LANGUAGE

With us, you’ll develop your ability to entertain and engage audiences in different contexts. You will become more confident in yourself and strengthen your visual expression on stage.

NORWEGIAN FOR MINORITY LANGUAGE DEAF PEOPLE

Teaching Norwegian sign language, culture and traditions, as well as reading and writing skills. Focus on on social studies and welfare services.

DESIGN YOUR WAY

An interdisciplinary line with the main focus on sign language, outdoor life and art. This is an exciting and creative line that gives students the opportunity to design the line’s content. Suitable for students with all types of hearing loss.

Ål inn - a documentary series on NRK TV

NRK has published a TV series, “Ål inn”, about our school produced by Fabelaktiv AS. The seriesis about friendship, love and finding oneself at Ål, a folk high school where everyone speaks sign language. The series brings together deaf and hearing students with different backgrounds and stories, and teachers in their first job. It follows them through an entire year from the first excited start of school in August to the tearful end in May. You can find the series here under NRK TV.
